Baking soda is not just for cooking or odor elimination. There are numerous uses for Arm and Hammer Baking Soda. Did you know you can use baking soda exfoliate your skin, jumpstart your home pedicure, rid your hair of product build up, and freshen your breath? Pretty cool!
I was sent a beauty basket so that I could make some of these home beauty items with Arm and Hammer baking soda. In the basket I got a booklet with all kinds of tips and mixture recipes.
I have been using a homemade face scrub from coconut oil and sugar. I thought I’d see how this baking soda exfoliant compared.
How to make facial scrub and body Exfoliate with baking soda
- Make a paste of 3 parts Arm & Hammer baking soda to 1 part water.
- Rub in a gently circular motion to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells. I used a battery powered circular brush but you can also just use your hands or a wash cloth.
This homemade exfoliate definitely made my skin smooth and soft.
I liked how simple it was to make this. Compared to my other homemade face scrub, this was definitely lighter feeling. In fact, if you have dry skin, you will probably want to put on some lotion or cream right after.
My face was dry (not oily) after using the baking soda scrub. I would definitely use it again.
I like making home made beauty products versus buying them in a store. I want to know exactly what is in the products I put on my skin and in my body.
Baking Soda, also referred to as sodium bicarbonate, is a naturally-ocurring substance found in all living things. It lets you regulate PH balance. Sodium bicarbonate comes from ancient lake beds beneath the high plains deserts of the central Midwest.
