I hope you all had a excellent Thanksgiving!  Hopefully you all scored some awesome deals over the weekend too!  I’m so glad it is finally “legal” to post Christmas projects.  I know that we’ve posted some already this year, so hopefully you are gathering your supplies to make those projects.  But I don’t want you to forget to purchase the supplies for these DIY Christmas Trees!  When it comes to simple Christmas decorations, you can not beat these Christmas trees.

I was at the craft store and purchased 3 craft foam cones in different sizes.  I knew I wanted to make some trees with them, but didn’t know what I wanted to cover them with.  I think I wandered the aisles of the craft store for at least an hour until I found 3 things I wanted to use to create my trees.  I found some fun silver tinsel garland in the Christmas decorations aisles, some gold ruffle trim in the fabric section and some feather trim also in the Christmas sections.

Since I was working with foam, I decided to use these floral pins to attach all my trims to my foam cones.

I did the same thing for each tree.  I started at the bottom and secured the end of the trim with a floral pin.  Then I wrapped the trim to the top of the cone.  I secured it with the floral pins a couple of times as I wrapped.  When I got to the top, I made sure to take my trim to just above the top of the cone and secured it in the back and trimmed off the excess.

I wasn’t sure what I wanted for the top of the trees until I happened upon the drawer pull section of the store.  I found a couple of pretty drawer pulls and a small silver ornament for the tops of my trees.

All I had to do was push the end of the drawer pulls and the small ornament into the top of the foam cone.  You could always secure it with a little hot glue, but since the ends were really long on the drawer pulls, I found that I didn’t need to do that.  And since I went a little above the top of the cone, it covers up the area where the two meet.

I wanted to stick with white, silver and gold so I could use them on my table display with my DIY Apothecary jars.  That also just happen to be silver and gold! :)

See, I told you they were simple!  I’m all about simple Christmas decorations, and these DIY Christmas trees are just that.  Plus I love that you can make them match any decor.

Happy Crafting!
