Yes, I know it is still October, but I just couldn’t help myself!  I’ve started to see Christmas goodies flooding into the stores and just thought that I needed to share some Christmas cheer with you today.  Don’t be too mad at me, I’m just trying to help you out.  When the time comes and you are looking for simple christmas wreath ideas, I want you to remember just how simple this cute wreath is to make.

You really only need a few supplies to make this festive door decor.

To make the base of this wreath you will need a styrofoam wreath form and 1/2 yard of fabric.  I wanted to go traditional red and green with this one.  Lay your fabric out flat and make a small cut about every 2 inches along the edge of your fabric.  Then just tear your fabric into strips.  You can get 8-9 strips from 1/2 yard.

To cover your wreath you hold the end of one of the strips of fabric down on the back side of the wreath form and then just start wrapping your fabric strip around the form.

I personally like the frayed edge on this wreath, but if you want a little cleaner look, you can fold over 1/4 to 1/2 and inch of the edge of your fabric strip as you wrap it around the wreath form so that it is nice and straight.

What makes this wreath so simple is that you really don’t need much to hold it down.  As you over lap the fabric as you wrap it around the form, the fabric stays put.  So when you get to the end of one strip of fabric, just place the next strip on top of that and continue wrapping your wreath form.

In fact you really only have to use a little hot glue when you get to the end of the wreath, to just tack it down so it won’t unravel.

You will use anywhere from 5-7 strips of fabric to cover the entire wreath form.  Since I had a couple strips left over, I just used one of those as a hanger for my wreath.

I found this adorable Santa that is probably for sitting on a shelf, table or mantle, but wanted to use him as the centerpiece of my Christmas wreath.

All I did was hang my wreath on my door, then I could set the Santa right in the middle of it.  I didn’t glue him down or anything, but you could if you were worried about it falling off.  You could even use a thin gauge wire like the one I used on my Halloween witch wreath to tie down the hat and broom.  But this guy stayed in there pretty good with out anything.  Don’t you just love those wooden legs?!?!
