Recently, I posted the 2020 Texas Bluebonnet Award Master List of Books, and I thought I’d put together a list of 2020 Newbery Award Winners too. Both of these are prestigious children’s literature awards.
If you are looking for children’s literature ideas, then browse the award-winning children’s books on this list. These books are a excellent way to fill up those incentivized reading logs to get free books, game tokens, and more.
Part of the American Library Association (ALA), The Association for Library Service to Children awards the John Newbery Medal (note - not Newberry medal) each year.
This award is given to authors of “the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.” Incredibly, the Newbery award is actually the first children’s book award in the world!
In order to be considered for the Newbery award, the author must be a United States citizen or resident. In addition, the book must be first published in the U.S. in English.
