This time of year everyone is starting to think of ways they can save money on Holiday Shopping. If you’re like most Americans the Holidays are a stressful time of the year because you’re spending money that frequently times you don’t have.

I’d love to help you save money this year! In addition to posting tons of Black Friday Deals and Christmas Gift Ideas we are also helping you get organized and get ahead of the Holiday Shopping madness :) You can save so much money by having a plan and sticking to it. In fact,  the most common sources of over spending during the holidays come from 1- Impulse buying when you are in the stores and 2- Last minute shopping when you end up paying full cost!

One of the first things I do each year is create a Christmas Gift List and Holiday Budget! I have Free Holiday Budget and Gift List Printables available for you to download and this is a excellent way to get an idea of what you’re going to need to purchase and set a budget so you avoid overspending this Holiday Season!

Creating a Holiday Gift List

1. Create a List of everyone you need to purchase a gift for this year

I like to include Family Members, Neighbors, Teachers, etc. It’s key to take time to think through everyone on your gift list no matter how big the gift. For example I always add in something for my Husband’s Co-Workers, most of the time it’s just a baked treat but it’s nice to be able to plan those things into your budget because all those little expenses can add up quickly if you don’t plan for them.

2. Set a Budget for Each Person on Your Holiday List

I like to set an individual budget for each of my immediate family members, then for our extended family on one side we draw names so we have a gift limit for that gift, and then I lump all my Baked Goods together and Teachers Gifts together so that I have a budget for each of those gifts as well.

3. Start Brainstorming Ideas

I like to write down ideas for each member of my family, I keep this list in my purse so that when I think of an idea or I’m out shopping and see something I can add it to my list of ideas.

4. Start Watching for Sales!

The Holiday sales are slowly starting up right now so get a jump start on your shopping by knowing what you are looking for. If you have a few ideas for each family member then you can watch for sales and pick the best deal! That can ultimately save you a lot of money on gifts. I know last year I was able to save as much as 50% on items on my list just by keeping my eyes on the sales.

5. Keep your list Updated

I know this seems simple, but sometimes I forget that I already bought something for someone, so I always mark off that person on my list and write down what I purchased once I make a purchase. This lets you me know exactly where I am in my holiday shopping and lets you avoid overbuying :)
