We frequently try to look to money to find security, happiness and acceptance from others. We’re trying to fill a void in our lives with things, with people, and with experiences.

The truth is, in the end all those things will leave us feeling empty, unhappy and looking for something more. Far too numerous continue in a vicious cycle where they continue spending money, getting into relationships

True Wealth And Contentment Only In Him

God is the only one that can fill those voids in our life, and we need to look to him to fulfill all of our innermost desires and needs. Only he can provide happiness, security and a hope for the future.  Otherwise, we’re only looking for and hoping for fulfillment in money and things.  We trust in them to give us happiness, but they are fools gold.

The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it an unscalable wall.” Proverbs 18:11

My theory is this: all of God’s creation points to Him.  Because he created it, it is good.   People can twist God’s creation to take something good and make it a tool for bad, but in most instances what God has created can give us happiness, pleasure or positive feelings.  But those feelings are fleeting because they’re only a shadow of their creator - and they can’t truly give us everything we need.  They’re like the candy bar you eat at 2pm that leaves you feeling empty and hungry again an hour before dinner.  It’s fun for a season, but it’s quickly forgotten.

Only when we find our true happiness, security and peace in Christ will be truly be in a fortress with unscalable walls. Until then we’re in a fortress with a crumbling foundation, one that will truly fall around us and trap us in the rubble.

He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me. Psalm 144:2

Will you look to him to be your fortress?  If you haven’t yet, you can become a Christian, and ask Jesus Christ into your life, to be your rock and your protection.  Just pray the sinner’s prayer:

“Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
