Walmart said about 24,000 construction jobs will be supported through the opening of the new facilities and the remodeling of existing locations.
‘Walmart is investing to better serve shoppers,” said Dan Bartlett, Walmart executive vice president for corporate affairs. “With a presence in thousands of communities and a vast supplier network, we know we play an key role in supporting and creating American jobs.”
Walmart also plans to create new “training academies” for existing employees. More than 225,000 associates will receive up to six weeks of specialty training in retail fundamentals to help them meet customer needs.
